The present book is an historic analysis of the social use of photography in Colombia, an essay that deeply reflects, from a theoretical perspective on the practice of photography not related to gallery-museum purposes. This essay examines the art of photography in the Valley of Cauca between 1870 and 1940, with an inventory of the photographers of the region, their activities and limited resources. Includes appendix «El Album de Arthur Weinberg», comprising the photo-album where the German studio photographer collected hundred of images of his personal life while also graphically documenting Colombia during the late 19th century and early 20th century.
